Ordering FAQs

How do I buy from Utah Natural Meat?

We have a store right here at our farm as well as home delivery options.

Our farm store is located at 7400 South 5600 West in West Jordan and is open Tuesday 2:00-6:00pm, Thursday 2:00-6:00pm, and Saturday 10:00am-3:00pm. More information can be found here: Farm Market

We don’t take orders for items sold in our store - just stop by to shop!

Do you sell meat shares?

Yes, we have various options and offer shares each month year-round. They include beef (eighth, quarter, half, whole), pork (half, whole) and lamb (whole), as well as salmon during specific times of the year. These bulk options can be picked up at our farm or delivered to your home.

How much freezer space do I need?

A general rule is 30 pounds of frozen food for one cubic foot of freezer space. A whole beef takes up about 16 or so cubic feet of freezer space, which equates to a half using about 8 cubic feet, a quarter about 4-5 cubic feet, and an eighth about 1-2 cubic feet. A whole pig requires about 4-5 cubic feet.

Where to you deliver to?

The Salt Lake Valley, plus areas in Utah County and Weber/Davis County.

Is there a charge for delivery?

There is a flat delivery fee per order based on your zip code:

Salt Lake Valley - $15, Utah County - $20 to $25, Weber/Davis County - $20 to $25

Do I need to be home for my delivery?

It’s best to have someone receive it in a timely fashion. That being said, the meat is boxed and frozen and will stay cold for a period of time. For smaller orders, such as meat bundles, you may leave a cooler on the porch for us which also cuts down on extra packaging. (Orders will be delivered during the first part of the day.)

You’ll receive a text message prior to delivery and then again once it’s on your doorstep.

Farm & Product FAQs

May I visit your farm?

Of course! We love it when customers come to the farm. However, our first concern is the health and care of our animals and the work that goes into them each day, so with that in mind we ask that you visit during our hours on Tuesday, Thursdays & Saturdays.

Do you offer tours or field trips?

Unfortunately we just don't have the time & resources right now to offer any formal tours. But your group is always welcome to come by during our farm hours and see the animals here - there are quite a few right around our farm store and the parking area.

Do you age your beef?

Yes! We dry age our beef for 14-21 days right here at the farm before packaging, giving the meat even better flavor. We don't offer any unaged beef, but if you are dealing with a histamine issue we have many customers who are able to eat our lamb and chicken without problems.

Is your meat organic?

We believe it’s better than organic. Organic labels can be misleading and also require additional fees and government oversight. We use similar practices and encourage you to visit the farm and see how your food is raised.

Do you give your animals growth hormones or antibiotics?

Never. The meat you buy from our farm is free from both. We will utilize an antiobiotic to save the life of an animal, but that animal is then removed from our program and sold somewhere else.

Do you sell offal, bones, & fat from your animals?

We do! They're available to purchase in our farm store. Options include ground heart, liver, kidney, oxtail, and tongue among others. There is some offal we can not have due to regulation - such as tripe needing to be cleaned in order to sell it. We also don’t carry pork trotters as the entire pig must be scalded to do so.

What is the fat ratio of your ground beef?

Our regular ground from our Angus cattle is about 85/15, while our lean ground from our Corriente cattle is about 90/10. It does vary slightly based on the individual carcass.

Do you sell roaster pigs?

No, we don't. There are some local butchers who do, such as Tooele Valley Meats in Grantsville, Utah.

Can you process my poultry?

We process our own birds here at the farm, but with the poultry license we have we are not allowed to harvest outside birds. We suggest contacting the Utah Department of Ag for recommendations of someone who may be able to do so.

Milk FAQs

Do you sell raw milk?

We do! We sell both raw cow and raw goat milk. Due to limitations on production, our cow milk and the products from it - such as cream and butter - are sold through a membership and you are welcome to join a waitlist for it. Goat milk is available to purchase in our farm store.

Is raw milk safe to drink?

We believe it is. We recognize that because our milk is raw this is an area of concern. We adhere to strict cleanliness procedures and mandatory state testing, in addition to regular testing of our own. Handled correctly, raw milk has a low risk of becoming contaminated. We strongly recommend you do your own research on both raw milk and the dairy you choose to purchase it from. We welcome inquiries about our cleanliness and sanitation procedures and are happy to answer any questions you have. We also suggest visiting RealMilk.com for more information.

How long does the milk stay good?

Raw milk keeps best cold and closed. If left in warm temperatures and/or without the cap on, any harmful bacteria that may get inside will grow rapidly, causing the milk to quickly sour. If kept properly, our milk will hold it's sweet flavor about 10-14 days past the sell by date on the carton, although many people enjoy it as it becomes a little sour and continue to drink it that way. Even if it's reached a point where you don't want to drink it, you can use it for kefir, yogurt and more.
